Even after our lunch, eating the donuts was easy. Except, the most amazing thing about his donuts are their lightness. In fact one admirer coined the term “donutgasm” when referring to Kamal’s donuts (I so wish I came up with that, I have such word envy). I had originally read about Sublime Doughnuts in Food and Wine and then again in their story on small batch superstars when I looked to find out more, I found that Kamal Grant had made Creative Loafing‘s 2010 lust list. Like the other yeast donut, it was light and the creme was cool and smooth. It had a strong coffee flavor on a base of chocolate. The A-town mocha was a A-shaped creme filled donut. In total the donut is subtle but truly very special (dare I say sublime?).
The glaze was light and added only a touch of sweetness.

The donut has no signs of banana on inspection, but the taste is full of a rich natural banana flavor. While it was denser than the other donuts, it was soft and very moist. The chocolate banana was the biggest surprise.

The flavors melded into the familiar and delicious taste of the chocolate marshmallow graham cracker treat (amazing how many good s’mores and marshmallow containing items we had while in Atlanta).
